Spring is here and the thought of digging up the garden and replanting flowers and vegetables as well as planting the seed for the lawn are on your mind. You thought you did a pretty good job last year but it just did not have that native Spokane feeling. What can you do to improve it this year? You know you want a flower garden and a vegetable garden but where should they be planted and how? You have seen some very beautiful designs at other homes and wonder how you can do this too. Truthfully, you have always wanted to have some landscaping done. Perhaps this is the year that a professional landscaper should be called in. Together, you sit down and design the back and front yards of your dreams.
You know you are a pretty good do-it-yourselfer but, admittedly, the things you want to incorporate into your lawn and garden project are a bit beyond you. You would like to have a fountain or a small water lily pond but, tearing up the yard to pull the water through from the house is a project you do not want to think about or to start on your own. This applies to that timed water hose you always admired. Such a project needs an irrigation expert. As you sit and review your back and front yards you realize that the polished professional look that you are striving for can only be had with professional help. Only the professional landscaper can save you from the stress and anxiety of a do-it-yourself attempt at landscaping.
Have you seen Spokane’s large variety of native grasses and flowers? Think of all of the interesting things that can be done with those. If you have a spot that is off the beaten garden path you may want to design a small bird sanctuary, surrounded by native grasses and greenery, to invite birds in as they past through. Instead of a bird bath you may want to put in a small water fall or fountain. If, on the other hand, you have a little more acreage you may want to build an animal shelter or sanctuary surrounded by some of Spokane’s most beautiful tall grasses. However, if you do not have a lot of land you may want to add some containers on your patio or porch and borders along paths as a part of your garden and lawn landscaping.
Nothing looks more beautiful than that neatly manicured lawn and well designed flower and vegetable garden Using the native grasses, flowers and assorted greenery will give you that wonderful Spokane atmosphere in which to entertain your family and friends.
Prepare your designs, but don’t start digging up that back yard or the front yard until you have talked to a professional landscaper to see if your designs are feasible. Together, you and the landscaper’s staff can build a truly beautiful and functional back yard with a well seeded and manicured lawn.
